Trumpet professor at the University of Caldas, founder and director of the Redemptorist Conservatory, Bachelor of Music (Universidad de Caldas), Master of Music with an emphasis on trumpet (EAFIT), trumpeter, composer and director.
He began his studies in the Caldas Bands Departmental Program. His trumpet teachers were Juan Carlos Valencia and Juan Fernando Avendaño. He has received training in Venezuela, Mexico, Puerto Rico and Brazil. Granted by the Mazda Foundation for art and science.
His compositions have been winners in the most important band contests and music festivals in Colombia (2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021). His arrangements and compositions have been performed by the National Symphony Orchestra of Cuba, Zaragoza Wind Ensemble, Dominican Philharmonic Orchestra, Youth Symphony Orchestra of El Salvador, Orléans Symphony Orchestra, Symphonic Band of the University of Wisconsin, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Totó la momposina, Marta Gómez, Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá, Symphony Orchestra of Colombia, Symphony Orchestra of Caldas, Philharmonic Orchestra of Cali, Symphonic Band of the University of Oklahoma, among others.
He has participated as a composer, arranger and trumpeter in more than 10 record productions.
He was a member of the Kanna Jazz Brass ensemble with which he recorded two record productions and was the winner of the National Festival of the Hall. Semifinalist in the II Eric Aubier Latin American Trumpet Competition. He was a trumpet professor at the Technological University of Pereira and principal trumpet of the Caldas Symphony Orchestra for 15 years.
In 2019 he toured Europe with his group 5 pa’l mundo that included a recital at the Liceu Conservatory in Barcelona. The concert program was fully integrated by works of his authorship.
As a conductor, he has performed with the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, the Manizales Municipal Band, the Universidad de Caldas Symphonic Band, the Universidad de Caldas Brass Ensemble (a group he founded) and the Redemptorist Conservatory Symphonic Band (which he conducts until the date).
He has been a soloist with the Caldas Symphony Orchestra, CIMA International Music Festival, Manizales Municipal Band, Puerto Rico Music Conservatory, Caldas Chamber Orchestra, Valle Departmental Band, Caldas University Symphony Band, International Festival of music from Manizales, in addition, he has performed various trumpet recitals, among which the International trumpet guild Conference 45 (USA), Mas palomas trumpet fest (Gran Canaria – Spain), Ciutat de Xixona International Trumpet Festival (Spain) stand out. ; where he was a jury member of the International Trumpet Competition. In June of this year he will offer a recital at the 47th conference of the International trumpet guild in Minneapolis (USA).
He is currently a trumpet professor at the University of Caldas, director and founder of the Redemptorist Conservatory and director of the 5pa’l mundo ensemble with which he has made two record productions with works he wrote. In addition, he continuously collaborates in various musical training processes in different regions of Colombia, Latin America and Europe.
