The International Orchestral Excerpts Competition, organized by the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival, aims to promote this repertoire among young trumpeters, as it is a fundamental tool for their professional future. It is a global competition that evaluates skill in performing orchestral excerpts, considering factors such as musicality, style, accuracy, and coherence with the musical excerpt.

RULES

1. Eligibility::

• Contestants must be between 15 and 35 years old (as of July 13, 2026).

2. Competition Structure:

• The contest consists of two rounds::
  • ROUND I: July 13, 2026, 15:30 h.
  • ROUND II – FINAL: July 14, 2026, 19:00 h.
• Location: Expomeloneras (Auditorio “Las Tirajanas”).
• Contestant limit: 15 (Students enrolled in the Festival will have priority to participate in the contest over who are not registered, if contestants exceed the limit set).
• Contestants will be admitted in strict order of registration, leaving a reserve list once the places to compete have been filled.

3. Registration:

• Fees:
  • Candidates enrolled in the Festival: Free
  • Applicants not enrolled in the Festival: 60 €
• Deadline: The registration period begins on the date of publication of these rules and ends on July 1, 2026.

4. Jury:

The jury will be composed of the following members:

• James Fountine / London Symphony Orchestra.
• Juan Antonio Martínez / Orquesta Nacional de España.
• Gabor Tarkovi / Orquesta Filarmónica de Berlín.

5. Prizes:

The contest will have a single prize, which consists of:

FIRST PRIZE:

• Contract to work on a project for a professional orchestra in Spain

• Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival Scholarship: Free registration for the 2026 Festival.

• Prize: €500.

• Bags trumpet case.

• Brass & Wood mute.

• Elite oil pack.
