He was born in Catarroja (Valencia) on June 11, 1974, into a musical family. His father is the composer Salvador Chuliá. At home, he learned solfège and harmony from his father in a musical environment. He studied at the "José Iturbi" and Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatories in Valencia, earning Honors and Extraordinary Awards in Solfège and Trumpet. He studied trumpet with Vicente López (a student of the renowned trumpeter Maurice André in Paris during the 1970-75 period), who taught him the French school.

He began traveling to France to work with Guy Touvron, Thierry Caens, Maurice Benterfa, Bernard Soustrot, Pierre Dutot, Eric Aubier… culminating in a series of encounters, both in Paris, Prèsle en Brie, and San Juan de Luz, with Maurice André himself, who wrote about him: “Ernesto is a true artist who perfectly masters the technique of playing the trumpet. I met him at the Albert Competition, where I was amazed by his performance of Legende by Georges Enesco.”

He has produced two works for Spanish television with educational segments about his instrument. One, in 2010, with the Fuenlabrada's Trumpets group on the program "El club del pizicatto," where he introduced the trumpet to children, and another, in 2011, "Los oficios de la cultura," where he detailed the profession of a trumpeter alongside his student Mario Martos and the renowned master Maurice André.
