IX Wettbewerb für Orchesterstellen

The International Orchestral Excerpts Competition, organized by the Maspalomas International Trumpet Festival, aims to boost this repertoire among young trumpeters, knowing that it is a basic tool for their future work. It is a global competition where skill in the interpretation of orchestral extracts will be valued, taking into account factors such as musicality, style, security and coherence with the musical extract.

1. Eligibility

Contestants must be between 15 and 35 years of age (on July 15, 2024).

2. Development of competition

The contest will run in two rounds.

FASE I: Date: July 15, 2024
FASE II – FINAL: Date: July 16, 2024

Start time: 15:30 pm

Location: Expomeloneras (Auditorio “Las Tirajanas”)

Contestants limit numbers: 15 (Students enrolled in the Festival will have priority to participate in the contest over who are not registered, if contestants exceed the limit set).

Contestants will be admitted in strict order of registration, leaving a reserve list once the places to compete have been filled.

3. Registration

Registration will be via online through the following link https://www.maspalomastrumpetfest.com/inscripcion/competition-registration

Fees:

• Candidates enrolled in the Festival: Free.
• Applicants not enrolled in the Festival: 50 €

Deadline: The registration period begins on the date of publication of these rules and ends on July 1, 2024.

4. Jury

The jury will be composed of the following members:

• Jeroen Berwaerts (Hochschule für Musik in Hannover / Royal Academy of Music in Londo)
• Alfonso González Barquín (Orquesta de la Academia Nacional de Santa Cecilia en Roma – Centro Superior de Música del País Vasco “Musikene”)
• Dominique Bodart (ARTS Ecole Supérieure des Arts Mons – Theo Charlier Trumpet Competition)
• Marcos García Vaquero (Orquesta Sinfónica de Madrid y titular del Teatro Real / Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón)
• Sebastián Gil  (Artistic Director MITF – Conservatorio Superior de Música de Canarias)

5. Prizes

The contest will be two prize consisting of:

First Prize:

• Scholarship Maspalomas Trumpet Festival: free registration in 2024 and 2025 Festivals.
• Prize: endowed with 500€.
• Bags brand trumpet case.
• Pumpet (TruTra) brand accessory.

Participation in the competition implies unconditional acceptance of the terms and rules of the competition.
